The SCA was formed in 1973, to provide Personal Accident Insurance coverage for competitors  in the event of an accident.

The SCA covers most of Victoria and Southern New South Wales as well as part of South Australia, and local campdraft committees affiliate with the SCA and run campdrafts and schools under the NCCA & SCA's rules whilst benefiting from insurance organised by the Southern Campdraft Association.

All our clubs raise much needed funds for their local communities.

The SCA has seen a healthy increase in memberships and currently has over 1,800 full and over 400 draft permit members, with an average growth rate of 12% each year.
Campdrafting is a uniquely Australian Horse Sport and a real Australian pastime in which all the family can participate and enjoy and we are now seeing three generation's of families competing.

A typical Campdraft program today consists of a variety of events ranging from Junior (8 &  under 13 years), Juvenile (13 & under 17 years), Encouragement (17 yrs & above for those members who have not won a L, M, N,O or placed three times in these event), Ladies, Maiden, Novice and the elite of our sport the Open Draft.

The National peak body for Campdrafting is the National Campdraft Council of Australia, which the SCA is affiliated with.
